An in-between hue you can't look away from.

Though it might seem like summer just began, Glidden paint by PPG is already looking ahead: The brand has just announced the Color of the Year for 2023. And we are here for it. "Vining Ivy" is a refreshing teal color that promotes the reality of varying perspectives in our daily lives. The “bluish-greenish-something-in-betweenish” tone is versatile, contemporary, and a total conversation starter. To choose the color, a team of 35 color stylists with dynamic world views came together to identify color trends and forecast the colors they believe we will see everywhere.

"The overarching theme for 2023 is about reflection on what matters most to us, our relationship with the planet, and how we want to engage with others,"Ashley McCollum, Glidden color expert explains. "Its versatility takes the guesswork out of design, leaving consumers with more time to indulge in the things that matter most to them.”

If you're used to debating which color swatch is which at your local hardware store, this color invites you to agree to disagree and get the best of both worlds! After a year dominated by decisive greens, the enchanting not-so-blue hue, pairs beautifully with brass and gold accents for a surprisingly calming touch. But if you're a huge neutral lover—don't fret! McCollum suggests introducing the color to your bedroom.

"Go off from how you want to feel—you want to feel restored after you wake up! This color works great as an accent wall, especially if you have a lot of light in your bedroom for a grounding and peaceful morning," she shares.

Glidden also chose a palette of ten colors that work with the 2023 hue flawlessly. You'll find a cool terracotta clay or a deep spicy mustard shade, each promoting a cozy and earthy feel. For consumers eager to see this color ASAP, color experts recommend using this blue-green shade as a wall color paired with deeper-toned woods and off-white trim. For those looking for a more luxurious feel, Vining Ivy can easily go glam when accessorized with golden accents and bright white trim.

“Even the most modest spaces can benefit from the teal treatment. For those short on square footage but big on style, we recommend using this rich hue as a bold contrast to a neutral palette, making a petite room feel plush," says McCollum.

Why stop there? As an exterior, this blue-green hue can add immediate curb appeal when featured as a front door color! Available exclusively at The Home Depot, a gallon of Glidden Diamond paint can cover an average-sized room in one coat.
