Important tips for remodeling the exterior of a house-The Mail & Guardian

Sometimes we judge a book by its cover. Although we know the contents are important, the appearance is important-especially when it comes to our home. Take care of the outside as well as the inside. Our carefully crafted Dulux Weatherguard® has excellent resistance and protective paint colors and finishes, which can help provide the ultimate protection for your home.

But when it comes to remodeling the exterior of your home, where do you start?

Is there an ideal time to paint the exterior walls?

Generally, paint must be painted when there is no forecast of rain, the temperature is between 10-33 degrees Celsius, the humidity does not exceed 85%, and the dew point is 20°C.

In winter, avoid painting too early in the morning or too late in the afternoon, because the weather is usually too cold, which will affect drying, curing and film formation. Similarly, in summer, do not use it when it is too hot or the surface is too hot, especially on the roof, because it will force the paint to dry, which will again affect the film formation and cause the paint to crack or peel off.

What should be considered when choosing exterior wall paint? (Cover durability and color)

External factors such as ultraviolet rays, rain, and pollution are harsh and will really test paint, so make sure you choose quality products such as Dulux Weatherguard®. It comes with a 15-year warranty and does not contain APEO, which provides high-quality resistance and protection. Compared with brighter or more natural colors (such as bright red, yellow, etc.), natural soil type colors have the best UV/fading resistance. As it absorbs more heat, dark colors will fade at a faster rate, which will give the paint an extra pressure coat.

Tell us more about Dulux Weatherguard® stretch technology?

Dulux Weatherguard® is formulated with a unique Maxiflex™ binder mixture, which makes the coating more flexible than traditional exterior wall coatings. Dulux Weatherguard® with Maxiflex™ provides long-lasting elasticity to cover cracks in fine lines.

Maxiflex™ also helps to cover paint coatings on walls that expand and contract due to temperature fluctuations. This ensures that your paint coating will not crack or peel easily, and has long-lasting weather protection.
